The Tourism Association

In November 1999 a group of Balingup residents and tourism operators met with the purpose of establishing a tourism association to market Balingup and provide a local service for tourism operators and visitors.

A steering committee was formed, and the group operated under the umbrella of the Balingup Progress Association until it became a constituted body in its own right some six months later.  With the assistance of a grant from the Shire and a very industrious sub-committee, our Visitor Information Centre became a reality in record time and "The Gallery " was opened in August 2000.

The Visitor Centre is situated on the corner of Brockman Street and Blackwood River Drive in the Balingup Community Centre building.  It is open 7 days a week between the hours of 11am and 3pm. The assistance of volunteers, many of whom are not tourism operators themselves, typifies the independent "can do" attitude of our wonderful friendly community.

Balingup became the first Aussie Host Town in WA when more than 60% of the businesses in town completed the Aussie Host course.

Balingup Visitor Centre

From its inception, the Balingup & Districts Tourism Association has recognised the value of promoting the district's attractions and events, the importance of servicing the real needs of the visiting public, and the financial advantages to be obtained through the formation of partnerships and collective marketing. With the support of its members and by working in partnership with other organisations through a variety of avenues, the Association has been able to create a greater awareness of what Balingup and the surrounding districts have to offer the visiting public.
