Things to do

Balingup is surrounded by many wonderful natural attractions, and it is well worth the effort to explore them.

There are many easy walks close to town; on the Bibbulmun Track, along the Balingup Brook, in the Golden Valley Tree Park, and also in the Greenbushes area.
For the more energetic Balingup offers
longer walks on the Bibbulmun Track, and many of the accommodation operators offer a drop-off service within a day's walk of town.

The Blackwood River Drive to Nannup has been voted Western Australia's No. 1 tourist drive, and provides wonderful scenery, interesting and historical landmarks, marroning, fishing, and picnic areas.

Visit the minesite lookout at Greenbushes or take advantage of access to the lookout at Balingup Heights.

In the village there are delightful cafes and bakeries, and you may be tempted to try some of our local award winning fruit and grape wines.
Find locally handcrafted pottery, art and craft galleries, jewellery, sculpture, alpaca knitwear, herbal products, antiques and collectables, and many other treasures.

There are three nurseries, one specialising in exotic trees, another in native species, and the third is a bamboo nursery.  Other businesses also supply tulip bulbs, and variety of lavender plants and products.  A number of gardens are open for viewing all year round, with the majority being open in Spring and Autumn in conjunction with the very popular garden festivals.

Just 240kms from Perth, Balingup provides the ideal location from which to explore the beauty of the South West and the magnificent Blackwood River Valley region; or alternatively just enjoy the perfect weekend escape.
